Art washes away the dust of daily life from our souls.
PABLO PICASSO
Every day I see something that I'd like to paint, to make an etching, or a woodcut of. I record my experiences of beautiful or surprising moments, sometimes nature in its full glory, sometimes a beautiful interaction with people. Sometimes I have to take a picture while driving, at other times a mental note of an image that cannot be captured. You would have experienced how meditative and delicious nature and music can be. Here is some of my self initiated work which continues to push my understandings of mediums and compositions, and towards learning more about light and colour. The search is eternal and highly rewarding. Welcome to the inside of my eye!
MY ETCHINGS IN THEIR FOREVER HOMES!
STORM IN GUWAHATI, 70x100 cm, 2013.
PRINTMAKING DONE AT AN ARTISTS' RESIDENCY IN UTTARAYAN FOUNDATION, VADODARA, GUJARAT, INDIA.
I happened to be travelling through Guwahati with a friend on my way to a music festival in North-East India. We had just finished lunch and whilst standing on the terrace we were nearly blown away by the famous Assamese monsoon winds! It's the biggest storm cloud I ever saw and I just HAD to make it on the biggest metal plate I could find. Etching is a very satisfying process in which textures, line and colour make their own decisions on the metal plate when interacting with acidic chemical and pine resin. The result is a collaboration with my mind and the forces of nature!
