SOMETIMES I GET LAUGHED AT ABOUT STOPPING TO TAKE A PICTURE WHILST DRIVING OR STOPPING A CONVERSATION OR A WALK TO A HALT TO STORE IN MY OWN WAY - A POINT OF INSPIRATION FOR MY PAINTINGS AND ETCHINGS. IF YOU KNOW YOU KNOW HOW MEDITATIVE AND DELICIOUS NATURE AND MUSIC CAN BE. HERE ARE SOME OF MY SELF-INITITATED PEICES THAT INSPIRE ME AND CONTINUE TO PUSH ME TO LEARN MORE IN IMPROVING MY SKILLS AND COMPOSITIONS AND COLOURS. THE SEARCH IS ETERNAL AND HIGHLY REWARDING. PRINTMAKING DONE AT AN ARTISTS' RESIDENCY IN UTTARAYAN FOUNDATION, VADODARA, GUJARAT, INDIA.

I happened to be travelling through Guwahati with a friend on my way to a music festival in North-East India. We had just finished lunch and whilst standing on the terrace we were nearly blown away by the famous Assamese monsoon winds! It's the biggest storm cloud I ever saw and I just HAD to make it on the biggest metal plate I could find. Etching is a very satisfying process in which textures, line and colour make their own decisions on the metal plate when interacting with acidic chemical and pine resin. The result is a collaboration with my mind and the forces of nature!

At the end of my printmaking course in the wonderful Il Bisonte Instituto de Arte Grafica, Italy, I wanted to make an etching to capture the learnings & the memories of the beautiful year spent with my new friends in the gorgeous city of Florence.

The new leaves of the Kusum tree are bright red. My nani, Sheila Didi, a barrister who studied at Lincoln’s Inn, London, used to cycle to the high court in a sari. I imagine she would have passed beneath these very trees on a summer day like this. What does a tree remind you of?
Silver Oaks line this favourite evening walk. The evening sun is delightful especially in quarantine life.
